PINs and security

PIN length, the grace window and high-trust mode.

PINs are how people prove who they are on a shared device. You control how they behave in Settings.

What you can set

Member PIN length — how many digits a member PIN must be.
Grace window — after entering a PIN, how long before it’s asked again for the same kind of action.
Which actions require a PIN, and at which role.

High-trust mode

Clubs where everyone knows each other can relax some PIN prompts — for example, charging a tab without verifying the member’s PIN. This is faster, but means anyone with till access can charge any tab, so turn it on deliberately.

PINs can’t be recovered

PINs are stored scrambled and can never be read back. A forgotten PIN is reset by an owner, not recovered.
